Project ElderCool

Kansas City summers can be unbearable, and very dangerous for those who don’t have air conditioning. Bishop Sullivan Center initiated Project ElderCool in 2000. We provide a window air-conditioner to any indigent elderly person in the Metro area, and install on average 350 air-conditioners a summer.

This program has all but eliminated heat related deaths among the elderly in our city. With each air conditioner, we also make a deposit in the homeowner’s utility account to help them with the cost of running the unit.

 Donor Match!

During the summer of 2008, A.B. May will provide a 100% match (up to $10,000) on all donations made to help Kansas City's elderly in need!
