Everyone can use a hand every now and then. These are people in your community who could use your help. Our staff has qualified the people listed below as deserving of help.  You can Just Help One.  Due to the urgency of the needs of the families below, we have already fronted them the money; we borrowed on your generosity. We will forward to you a thank you note from the person you helped (we will not disclose your name or contact information to them).

 

 


Help one homebound elderly person with food
Each month we deliver supplemental groceries to about 60 homebound elderly. Most of them live alone on a minimal social security income. Since we can acquire food from Harvesters for pennies on the dollar we can provide several sacks of groceries for them and we often add some kind of meat. The cost of this food and the delivery is about $20.00. Your contribution here would go toward providing food for one such elderly person.

Charisa
Charisa lost her job 3 months ago. She receives unemployment which helps support her daughter and her needs. That unemployment just started and the few months she went without any income she just got further and further behind. Charisa is looking for work and hopes to have a job soon. Her electricity was disconnected. She was able to pay most of what she needed to get turned back on but is still short $158.00.

Kenny
Kenny has been very ill and his illness had kept him from his job that he has been at for the past 19 years. He has lived in his apartment for 5 years and is a good tenant. He has not been able to get caught up from the time he missed work. He needs $210.00 to avoid eviction and get caught up. Now that he is back to work and feeling better he will be able to keep up.

Tiffany
Tiffany is in her 20’s and is trying to hold it all together for her family. She works at a gas station, the $9.50 an hour stretches for the family of 5. Her mom became disabled so her siblings and her mom depend on her for support. They struggle, and even the 15 year old knows they go without. Tiffany was injured and couldn’t walk without using crutches. Her job has her on her feet so she missed hours they depend on. Tiffany is looking for a second job to help her family out even more. Their electric is due to be shut off and they need $172.00 to stay on.

Areial
Areial and 200 of her fellow co-workers also found themselves without work when their company closed its doors. Areial has a teenage daughter to care for and the strain of being unemployed has been hard on them. She gets unemployment but can only make it stretch so far. She has been trying to pay down a high bill from over the summer but now has a disconnect notice for $178.00 for her electicity.

Lacy
Lacy is on a fixed income from disability payments. She suffers from physical disabilities. She fell behind on her rent and tried to catch back up, paying a large sum of what was behind. Lacy has been homeless before but has been able to maintain this apartment for two years despite obstacles in her life. She fears being on the streets again. Lacy needs an additional $156.00 to stop the eviction and be able to stay in her home where she feels safe.

Qiana
