Hit-It-A-Ton
You can help Billy Butler and his wife, Katie, feed the hungry in Kansas City.
Four years ago Billy and Katie Butler started “Hit-It-A-Ton” as a way to raise food for our two pantries and community kitchen. The cost to obtain and distribute a ton of food is $250.
Each day of operation the Center distributes about one ton of food to needy families in Kansas City. Billy combines his love of hitting home runs, with his desire to help those in need. So, each time he hits a home run he personally donates a ton of food ($250) and for each double he donates a half a ton of food ($125). In 2011, Billy hit 19 home runs and 44 doubles.
Hit-It-A-Ton Sponsors match Billy's donations. For 2012 the sponsors are: Straub Construction, Price Chopper, Firehouse Subs, Sioux Chief, Schier Products and Zarda BBQ. A dinger is worth 6 tons of food!
Even more important, there are 3 ways you can get involved with Hit-It-A-Ton and help feed hungry people right here in Kansas City.
