Get Involved: Volunteer

Our volunteers are vital in meeting the needs of the community.

Our staff is hard-working, passionate and dependable … but they can’t do it all. Our volunteers are a vital component in keeping our programs running successfully to meet the many needs in our community.

Volunteer opportunities

  • Working in one of our food pantries
  • Answering phones
  • Assisting us with our monthly mailings
  • Assisting with job counseling and placement
  • Serving dinner at One City Café

We have over 20 faithful organizations that provide volunteers to serve the meal in the community kitchen on their night each month. Meals are served 4:30-6 p.m. weeknights. Donors who sponsor a night in the kitchen can also serve the meal on the night they sponsor. Please contact Doug Langner at 816-561-8515 for more information about serving a sponsored meal.

  • Delivering food to the elderly

We are occasionally in need of people to help us with our weekly deliveries to the homebound elderly we serve. If you have a driver’s license and like the idea of paying someone special a visit and brightening their day, please complete the contact us form. You can also contact Angela Fencl at 816-231-0984 or Doug Langner at 816-231-0984.

We often receive calls from grade schools and high schools looking for service projects for their classes. We normally do not have any service projects to accommodate a whole class, but on occasion we could accommodate smaller numbers. Except for serving in the community kitchen, we do not have any volunteer opportunities in the evening or on weekends.
